Welcome to the 2017/2018 school year. I am excited about the upcoming year and I look forward to sharing many learning opportunities with your child. After teaching middle school language arts for ten years, the last seven at Starmount Middle, I am excited about my new role as an AIG teacher! My goal is to encourage students to use the abilities they have been given but at the same time instill in them a love for learning that will last a lifetime. Assignments and general information about AIG will be available on my website and your student’s Canvas. Please feel free to contact me at any time. Due to my schedule between two schools the quickest way to reach me is through email. Differentiated Education Plans (DEP’s) must be signed and returned to school. Signing the DEP gives your child permission to participate in Yadkin County’s Gifted Program.
Students will have AIG every day for 40 minutes. I will be at Yadkinville Elementary in the mornings and Courtney Elementary in the afternoons.
There is a $15 AIG fee. This fee is used to provide resources for the gifted program. Please make checks payable to the school, and send to me as soon as possible.
During AIG I hope to provide students with meaningful learning experiences. My hope is to complete all work during our 40 minute class time, however, there may be times students will need to study vocabulary, read, or work on a project at home.
Students will be keeping most of their work in their Google Drive and Canvas. I would like students to have a one subject notebook to keep in class. Students should also come to class with a pencil every day. If you would like to donate a box of tissues or hand sanitizer it will be greatly appreciated.
